…speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
Some persons only speak the truth when it will benefit them. When under pressure, they quickly change their minds and distort the truth because it is seemingly convenient. But, a person of integrity is always truthful irrespective of the consequences.
This is because a lie creates falsehood and withholds reality, which is harmful to the recipient because, it presents them with a distortion of reality. In fact, the Bible calls this wickedness (Prov. 29:12).
Speaking the truth on the other hand, is liberating (John 8:32), and it helps the listener to take the appropriate action based on the information passed across.
Also, It could be rather exhausting to maintain a lie, because though it may seem like an easy way out of a difficult situation, lying will require you to tell another in order to cover up. It is also one of the quickest ways to destroy your reputation.
Therefore, when you are faced with a difficult situation today, resolve to maintain your integrity and speak the truth regardless, remembering that a man of truth will find favour before God and his fellow men.
