SCRIPTURAL TEXT: Matthew 13:57-58
“And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his
own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”
Though, a believer is licensed to enjoy the benefits of God’s riches in Christ, there are
obstacles that if allowed, can and will hinder the believer from doing so. One of such obstacles to look out for is offence. To be offended is to harbour a feeling of resentment, bitterness or irritation towards someone, especially because of a perceived wrong or personal displeasure.
We see from our opening scripture that offence has the capacity to impede the flow of God’s promises in the life of a believer. The scriptures record that Jesus could not do mighty works in Jerusalem, his home town, because of their unbelief. We quickly see in the same verse of scripture, that this unbelief was as a result of the offence in their hearts toward Him. One would think that Jesus would wrought even greater signs and wonders in His hometown, but the opposite was the case. By harboring offence, they insulted themselves from experiencing the goodness of the Master.
A man working in offence cannot work in faith because his mind is altered to function in unbelief. This is what the Lord Jesus warned us about in Matthew 5:23-24. There would often be occasion to take offence, but as a believer, you must give it no place. Today therefore, diligently search your heart to see where offence may have begun to grow and terminate it from its roots by acknowledging it and repenting before God. This way, your faith will always produce and you will enjoy unhindered flow of
God’s blessings.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Dear Father, I receive grace to guard my heart from every seed of offence, I refuse and do not permit it in my life in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, I ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen (Ps 122:6)
PRAYER FOR THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH
We pray that the Lord will visit the church with the spirit of unity and oneness like He did in the early church in Jesus name.

2. Father, grant the leaders the ability to distinguish between righteous counsel and the deceitful counsels of the wicked. Surround them with righteous men and women who will give them sound advice. May government halls and buildings around the world be filled with wise counsel and understanding.
PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father in the name of Jesus, we cry for a release of your mercy upon every unsaved soul in this city and its environs, that they will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
