God’s Word comes to us to renew our minds and transform our lives, but the extent to which this would materialize depends on how receptive and compliant we are to the Word. If we reason the Word or become carnal in its application, we will miss out on what God has promised, because it takes obedience to reap the fruit of God’s Word.

In our opening scripture today, observe that Peter and his fishing crew could have yielded to their frustrations or deferred to their professional experience and quit, but they chose to obey Christ and do as He instructed. The result was life-transforming!

Obedience to the Word of God is essential to experiencing growth and transformation in our lives. The Bible tells us that only those who observe to do all that is written in the Word can make their ways prosperous and experience good success (Joshua 1:8). This demands that we approach the study of God’s Word and our fellowship with God’s Spirit with a ready heart and a willing mind, prepared to walk in obedience to reap what God has in store for us.

Therefore, as you step out today, settle it in your heart to obey the voice of God’s Spirit and practice scriptural principles no matter how you feel and what the popular opinion may be. Remember that only those who do the Word are blessed, and not the hearers alone (James 1:22). Become a doer of the Word today.
