PRAY FOR PASTORS

Read in your own language

Romans 15:30-31 – Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

It is customary in our world, to see Pastors always having to pray for long queues of people – both physically and virtually, as the case may be. However, many people do not seem to recognize the fact that just like every other man, Pastors are first mortal beings, who would also require that prayers be made for them.

Our opening Scripture today is one of many such examples, where a spiritual authority in the Church (Apostle Paul) had to request that prayers be made for him. More so, we understand that because of the protective role that a Pastor plays over the Church, just like a Shepherd, the Pastor would always be the first target of Satan’s attacks, because like the Scripture says – “…smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.” (Mark 14:27). So once Satan, our adversary, can successfully attack the Pastor, then he can successfully scatter the Church.

Therefore, it is imperative to invest time in praying for Pastors. One of such prayers is that the Lord would protect them from Satan’s attacks; strengthen them and provide for their needs, and grant them utterance and boldness to preach the true Gospel, without compromise. By so doing, we would not just be receiving from them, but partnering with them in prayers for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah!
