There is a wisdom to learn from today’s opening text where Apostle Paul, a man focused on his future, speaks of the discipline of putting his flesh under subjection day by day, for the purpose of securing his future. It is wisdom to put the future ahead of the present and to give it a higher priority.

From minor to major choices, decisions are made every day. However, in making those decisions, you must be mindful of how your choice will affect the purpose and future that God has in store for you. Specifically, it is important to choose only those things that align with God’s revealed plans and purpose for you, rather than the pleasures or convenience of the moment.

Also, in making decisions, do not prioritize the pleasures of the moment at the expense of your future value. Refuse any form of carelessness that will negatively affect your tomorrow, and be willing to ‘suffer’ or inconvenience your body in the present, if need be, so you can secure a glorious future for yourself.

In all, remember that it is not by power, nor by might, it takes the help of God’s Spirit to make the right decisions correctly and consistently. The good news is that the Holy Spirit is in you and with you, ever ready to help you do the right thing, even when your flesh revolts. Begin today by applying for His help to make the right decisions today.
