John 10:11- I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Contrary to the opinions and suggestions of the Western world today, there are many indisputable benefits of having a true Pastor. In fact, the Scripture in John 10:11 equates a true Pastor with the good Shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. What a striking virtue!
From the Scriptures, we see that apart from just being a shepherd over the sheep, a true Pastor also functions as a father to members of the Church – providing leadership, care, and an exemplary lifestyle for them to emulate (1 Corinthians 4:15). He plays the role of a coach – one who trains or instructs the members of the Church. He provides mentorship, spiritual counsel, and support to the members of the Church (Malachi 2:7). And very importantly, he functions as a priest to the Church – one is ordained to intercede or stand before God on behalf of the people; receive oblations, and command the blessing to rest (Ezekiel 44:30).
These are but some benefits of having a true Pastor in one’s life or Church.
Prophecy 1: May the blessings of God overflow in your life today in Jesus’ name.
Prophecy 2: As you step out today, may the grace to stay in the word rest on you in Jesus’ name.
