WALK IN MERCY
Matthew 6:4-15 KJV
"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. "
In a world that places values on retribution, forgiving someone who has wronged us can feel like sacrificing justice. We may feel that forgiving lets the offender off the hook. However, Christ Jesus,
all through Scriptures, teaches a different kind of justice, and this is one rooted in grace and mercy. By choosing to forgive, we entrust justice to God, the faithful judge who promises to handle all matters righteously (Romans 12:19).
Forgiveness can be emotionally painful, especially when the wounds are deep. It requires courage to address the pain and choose to let go of it, even when you feel so justified for holding on to it.
Christ understood this sacrifice as He endured immense emotional and physical pain on the cross to secure our forgiveness today.
While forgiveness might seem costly, the rewards are immeasurable as you are assured of forgiveness from God Himself if you forgive others, just like we see in our opening text.
Therefore, let us embrace this truth and begin to walk in it so that we will receive the fullness of the abundant life and mercy that Christ has for us. Hallelujah!
