Our call to fellowship with God transcends material blessings. He is our Source, and He created fellowship as an avenue to help us achieve oneness with Him, so we can become all He has destined us to be. Thus, our goal in fellowship is to win Him (Phil. 3:8) and to maintain perfect alignment with Him.

Our opening text today speaks about delighting ourselves in the Lord, and the attendant benefits. To delight in something means to find great pleasure and satisfaction in it. So, to delight in God, is to derive a deep sense of satisfaction in being in His Presence. This begins with the realization that no material possession or achievement can give you true satisfaction. With every new accomplishment, the human heart desires more and more, so that there is really no end to desiring, but the Presence of God gives the peace and satisfaction that money cannot buy (Isaiah 26:3).

The Lord knows the desires of your heart, and He is more than ready to give them to you as you delight yourself in Him. However, He would want your satisfaction to come from enjoying His Presence, not just the presents that He gives.

Therefore, take joy in fellowshipping with God today. Approach your quiet time, devotions, Bible study and prayer times with delight, knowing that the best times of your day are the times spent in His Presence. So, give priority to seeking His Presence above all else.
