In the pursuit of success, one thing is certain: things may not always go as planned. This makes it important for anyone who is determined to succeed to develop the valuable skill of adaptability.

The dictionary defines adaptability as the quality of being able to adjust to new conditions, or the capacity to be modified for a new use or purpose. This speaks of flexibility and ability to make the needed changes that allow you to stay on course and make a success out of an otherwise chaotic situation.

In our opening text, we see Apostle Paul stating that he had developed the capacity to adapt in times of scarcity or abundance, without losing focus on his goals. This is an important trait for success that you ought to possess.

Also, we see the adaptability trait at work in Joseph, who maintained his attitude of joyfulness and service throughout his time as his father’s favourite, to becoming Potiphar’s choice servant, and in prison after being wrongfully accused. In the face of setbacks and challenges, he was able to adapt and thrive, eventually rising to a position of great influence and authority.(Gen. 37 – 41)

Just like Joseph, you too can develop adaptability by first reminding yourself that God is constantly at work, even in the midst of change and uncertainty. Be encouraged to trust in His provision and guidance as you navigate the challenges and changes in your life, knowing that He specializes in making a way where there seems to be none (Isa. 43:19).

Do not panic or give up in the face of chaos. Rather, embrace the change and uncertainty you may face, knowing that all things will work together for your good in time (Rom. 8:28).

1. Prayer for the nation: Father in the name of Jesus, we pray for unity and cooperation among all groups seeking to uplift Christ in the nation, so that by their collaboration, many will be saved, in the name of Jesus.

2. Prayer for the leaders: Oh Lord, cause your fear to rest in the hearts of the nation’s leaders, that they may seek to you and depend on you in steering the affairs of the nation, in Jesus Name.
