DEVELOPING FEAR FOR GOD

Read in your own language

_Luke 12:5 – But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him._

Having read many scriptures that depict how gentle our Lord Jesus Christ is, it ought to tune a note in our minds, when we see Him speak as sternly as He did in our opening text, as this is a very important subject.

The supremacy and sovereignty of God cannot be over-emphasized. In Revelations 4:11, the Scripture clearly reveals that all things, including humans, were created by Him and for His pleasure. This means that He created us, not of our of own will, but of His will and can do to or with us, as He pleases. Hannah acknowledged this in 1 Samuel 2:3-8, where she stated that He kills and makes alive; He makes poor and makes rich; He lifts up and brings low. And then Jesus added a striking one –  God also has the power to cast into hell. What a great pain it would be, for anyone to suffer ills on earth and afterwards, still to be cast into hell.

Therefore, each day you sleep and wake, remember that God created you and can do as He pleases with you and around you. So, if there is anyone you must fear, let it not be man, who at the worst can kill the body, but, you must learn to fear God who can both kill and cast into hell. So, begin today to give Him all the reverence that is due to His name. Halleluyah!
