3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Prosperity is defined by many in terms of finances; however, the meaning of the word is not only financial. To prosper is to thrive, flourish, or make progress. Thus, if you make progress in your finances, you have financial prosperity and likewise, if you make progress in your soul, you have achieved soul prosperity.
John writing to the church in our scripture above prayed and admonished them to focus on prosperity in every area of their lives in accordance with the prosperity of their soul. Meaning their soul prosperity was foremost and then other areas would follow the same. It is rather common to tend to focus on prosperity in our finances, health, career, etc. while neglecting the prosperity of the soul. This is why John emphasized soul prosperity.
True prosperity of your soul is the foundation and bedrock for all-round prosperity; as Jesus spoke in Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Do you desire to prosper financially and generally this year? Then set the foundation in order! Accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ and continue to ensure the prosperity of your soul by seeking the kingdom of God first.

The vast majority claim to be Christians, but evidence of true spiritual transformation seems outweighed by superstition and nominalism. Gris-gris, a voodoo-like African spiritism based on black magic and herbalism, permeates the lives of Christians. Despite the disapproval of religious leaders, most Seychellois remain happy to mix religion into this dangerous cocktail.
Y: We are praying that the Gospel of Christ will prevail in the nation.
Dear Father, cause me to experience all-round prosperity in my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.
