GIFT OF PROPHECY

Read in your own language

To another prophecy; 1 Corinthians 12:10

The gift of prophecy functions as an anointing to edify, exhort, and comfort the church. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort (I Corinthians 14:3). This is different from the office of the prophet established by Jesus in the fivefold ministry of the church as shown in  Ephesians 4:11- (And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;).

The believer may be given this gift by the Spirit to bring forth a message that would edify and comfort the body of Christ and yet may not function in the office of a prophet. For example, King Saul functioned in this gift – in the company of prophets, he prophesied, although he wasn’t a prophet (I Samuel 10: 10-11).

In 1 Corinthians 14:3, Paul tells us the importance of this gift (But I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues,) therefore desire the gift of prophecy.

Prophecy 1: May your eyes be opened to see and ears be opened to hear God always in Jesus’ name.

Prophecy 2: As you step out today, may men remember you in Jesus’ name.

Action Points

W: Desire to have revelations constantly from God.

X: I decree and I declare that I am super blessed today!

STUDY YOUR BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: GENESIS 29 & 30, MARK 16, PSALMS 110.

Spain

Muslims are rapidly growing. Drug addiction is a stain on Spain and rates as one of Europe’s spot for heroin and cocaine addiction. This in turn is a major contributing factor in the AIDS epidemic and the crime rate in the nation. Young people need the gospel, having given themselves over to postmodern materialism and hedonism.

Y: We are praying for an outpour of God’s spirit upon the land that many will encounter God.

Startup Prayer: Dear Father, may the gift of prophecy be upon me in Jesus’ name.
