Our opening text today captures the response and attitude of Moses, the servant of the Lord, after he came across the burning bush that was not consumed. The Bible tells us that he turned aside to see and inquire about this great sight. Little did he know that he was moving into the exact spot where he would have an encounter with God.

Reading further, one would notice that the Lord never called out to Moses out of the burning bush until he turned aside to see why the bush was burning. This tells us one thing: your response to God’s promptings, or the nudging of the Holy Spirit would determine whether He will proceed to show you greater or deeper things.

For instance, if you have received an instruction from the LORD about an issue and remained passive, or delayed in obeying that instruction, you are automatically sealing yourself off from further direction. Acting on the truth you know will open you up for more revelation, and obedience in little things will open you up to greater things.

Remember that the things of God are always lines upon lines, and precepts upon precepts, so let your heart be set to have deeper and greater encounters with the Lord by learning to respond in faith and obedience to the promptings of God’s Spirit. This is how to position yourself for quick growth in the realms of the Spirit.
