LEARN FROM CRITICISM

Read in your own language

April 21, 2023

Scriptural Text:
Proverbs 15:32 (ERV)
“If you refuse to be corrected, you are only hurting yourself. Listen to criticism, and you will gain understanding.”

We all get criticized for one reason or another at different points in our lives. This may be for our looks, our result or lack of it, our methods or even our character. Sometimes, these criticisms appear undeserved, and thus painful, and it is the reason many feel threatened by them and altogether avoid them.

However, we see another perspective from our opening text today, that there is a lesson to learn from criticism. Thus, how we receive them matters, and what we learn from them should supersede how we feel about them.

Even if it seems to have been given undeservedly or may seem untrue , there still might be something worth considering in a criticism. God may even be speaking to you through this person or situation. Therefore, being pre-disposed to reject all criticisms may not be helpful.

Instead, weigh every criticism based on the pedigree of the person offering it, and the truth of God’s Word on the issue being addressed. Then let the Holy Spirit show you how you may respond and where you may need to make changes.

Therefore, do not be quick to take criticisms personally or to altogether ignore them. Rather, consider them in the light of God’s Word and apply the lessons in them. This is key in becoming better in your life and walk with God.

🙏 DAILY PRAYER GUIDE
Startup Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, give me the wisdom and humility to give a proper response when I am reproved, and to gain understanding, in the name of Jesus.

🏞️ PRAYER FOR A NATION – NAMIBIA
The Church in Namibia is growing. Partnerships between Churches are still a problem, but there are cases where denominations are starting to work together to reach the Northern parts and isolated areas of Namibia. As with many African countries, syncretism is a reality as many people mix their cultural practices with Christianity.

1. Prayer for the nation: Oh Lord, we pray for the believers in the nation Namibia, that they will shine forth as the light, and turn many into the Kingdom, in the name of Jesus.

2. Prayer for the leaders: Father in the name of Jesus, we pray for the legislators of Namibia, that they will make laws that will foster peace, unity, and progress in the nation, in Jesus Name.

🕍PRAYER FOR ISRAEL – ( Psalm 122:6 )
Father, I ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen

💒 PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
Father in the name of Jesus, we pray for church leaders that they will approve the things that are excellent and be sincere and without offence as they work towards unity in the Body of Christ, in Jesus Name.

☄️ PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father in the name of Jesus, we pray that you will reveal yourself to the lost souls in our city, and that they will accept the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus, in Jesus Name.
