MISPLACING THE FIRST FRUITS

Read in your own language

2 Kings: 4. 42.

And there came a man from Baal-shalishah, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat.

The practice of giving first fruit is something we find in scripture that brings great honor to God. Many today however want it phased out because they argue that it is an Old Testament practice. This shouldn’t be.

If God was honored with the practice of first fruit in the Old Testament, then we should seek even more ways to honor Him. He said in 2 Sam 2:30, He will honor those who honor Him. So, what would you rather do?

It is important to note that the Old Testament is not old but rather an example for us, so that our Revelation of the word will be complete being the mixture of both the old and the New Testament. Let us understand that God hasn’t changed in any form, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore, honor to God shouldn’t be a thing of the past but a regular and consistent practice. Glory to God!
