“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
As humans, we are naturally skeptical of things we have not tried and proven to be true; and because we live in a predominantly negative environment, there is every tendency to doubt and question everything around us- even in many cases, the word of God. A good example of this is the case of Thomas in the bible who doubted the resurrection of Jesus whom he lived and even dined with. We are faced with this test of doubt and unbelief daily.
As believers therefore, we must live differently from the world by choosing to live and act by faith. All through scriptures we see from the lives of the patriarchs that it takes faith to obey God. Those who have faith obey and those who obey have faith. On the other hand, those who do not have faith do not obey and those who do not obey do not have faith.
The origin of faith is the Word of God. This faith is not a mere intellectual assent but one that operates as obedience, action, based on the word of God. The Word births faith, and faith activates obedience. So, if you ever find yourself in a struggle to obey God, simply work on your faith level by staying more in the word. Halleluyah!
