THE ACT OF REPENTANCE

Read in your own language

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

1 John 1:9

The act of repentance refers to going before God with your sins to confess your sins. Sadly, this is missing in the lives of believers today. Many live in sin, without repentance with the assumption that they do not need to. This is a wrong doctrine.

Confessing our sins is not the same as sin consciousness. Sin consciousness is when we feel guilty about our sin, so much that it keeps us away from God. Confessing your sins is an acknowledgment that what you have done is wrong i.e., taking full responsibility.  This helps us to approach God, but sin consciousness makes us run away from God.

The Church in a bid to deal with the issue of sin consciousness has kept us in a position where we are living with stained garments, with which we cannot approach God. It is only when we are cleansed that we can stand before God to present our petition formally.

You cannot wish away your sins.  Also, being sorrowful is not enough.  If you err, acknowledge your sins, and ask for forgiveness.  God is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

Prophecy 1: Receive grace to boldly stand before God at all times in Jesus’ name.

Prophecy 2: As you step out today, may the grace to stay in the Word rest on you in Jesus’ name.
