More often than not, well thought out plans experience setbacks, resulting in unprecedented delays. A delayed flight, a pending transaction, a postponed event, an overdue response etc., can suddenly throw you into an unplanned waiting period. The good news is that such delays can be utilized to your advantage.

The first step in utilizing delays is preparing for them. You can do this by predetermining what you would do in that instance.

For example, you can position investment resources around you by default, so that you can turn your attention to a book,
or an online learning resource.

Such unexpected free times can also be used to cover up for lost times in the place of fellowship with God.

In contrast, our opening text tells us about the virgins who slumbered and slept while the bridegroom delayed in coming.
This is a wrong response in waiting.

The delays you experience are designed to work in your favour, if only you would take advantage of them. Utilize times of seeming delay to review your plans, pray, study, or finish up pending tasks. This is another important key to maximizing your time and optimizing your productivity.

As with many African countries, syncretism is a reality as many people mix their cultural practices with Christianity.

1. Prayer for the nation: Oh Lord, we pray for the missionaries in the nation Namibia, that they will be delivered from wicked and unreasonable men in Jesus name.
