WHO IS A TRUE PASTOR

Read in your own language

Jeremiah 3:15- And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

To many people around the world today, a Pastor means different things. While some have derived their opinions about Pastors from negative experiences, or the erroneous influences of the Western world, there remain many others, who have come to terms with the earnest reality of who a true Pastor is. So, it remains fallacious to define every book by the cover of a torn book.

According to the Scriptures, in Jeremiah, a Pastor is referred to as a protector, one who feeds the flock, and a ruler of the flock of men (Jeremiah 3:15). And in the Greek, a Pastor is translated to mean one who the Lord raises to care for the total wellbeing of His flock (John 21:15-17). So, just like a Shepherd, a true Pastor is one who protects the sheep (the Church) from the attacks of Satan and human predators; and cares for their total wellbeing by providing nourishment, mentorship, and guidance to the flock of Christ. Every true Pastor possesses these traits.

So, as believers, we should not join the world in castigating the ministry of Pastors. Rather, we should remember that Jesus already fore-warned us about the invasion of false Prophets in our days (Matthew 24:24). So, we ought to try the spirits (1 John 4:1), to separate and select the true Pastors, but not to neglect the ministry of a Pastor, because a true Pastor when found, is a priceless gift from God. Hallelujah!
