WORK WITH DATA

Read in your own language

May 13, 2023

Scriptural Text:
Luke 14:31 (NKJV)
”  Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?”

The dictionary defines data as facts and statistics collected for reference or analysis. It is a valuable resource that can help individuals make informed decisions that are backed by evidence.

Just as we see in our opening text today, one should not venture into a major project without first evaluating the chances of success. This is where data comes in. Data provides insights into a situation at hand, revealing patterns, trends, and potential opportunities or pitfalls. Reading and analyzing data correctly can help you in assessing situations correctly, identifying likely problems, evaluating risks, and weighing the impact of choices you may be contemplating.

For example, you may not be a king heading out to battle, but you may be concerned about the security situation of a proposed residential apartment, or the profitability of a particular line of business, or even the likelihood of people in an area to patronize your business. Working with available data about that neighbourhood, business or demography can help you make informed decisions that may save you from losses in the long run. And the good news is that data is readily available about almost any field or endeavour in our world today.

Therefore, whether you are a small business owner, student, a professional or a working parent, access to the internet avails you the opportunity to study available data, and make informed decisions that benefit yourself, family or organization.
