Our opening text today describes the experience of Gideon when he was visited by an angel of the LORD. Gideon was shocked when he was addressed as a mighty man, because in his own estimation, he was the least in one of the poorest families in Israel, but in God’s eyes, he was indeed a mighty man who would deliver Israel from the Midianites. What a contradiction!

In the same way, many persons today see themselves lesser than they truly are, oblivious of the investment that God has made in them. They continue to feel inferior because they have not discovered the gem and treasure that God has placed in them. God did not make you a loser. In fact, the Bible shows us that you are wonderfully made (Psa. 139:14). God has a treasure in you, but you have a responsibility to search it out, harness it, and position it to give you an advantage.

You may not be as creative as Bezaleel, or as skillful with your hands like Aholiab (Exo. 31:1-6), but there is that area where God has graced you with an ability like no other person around you. So, ask the Holy Ghost to open your eyes to see that gift as you reflect on what sets you apart from others, in order to identify your areas of advantage.

Remember, you already have in you what it takes to succeed. By the help of the Holy Spirit, you can discover, refine, develop and maximize your advantage to fulfil your purpose on the earth and bring glory to God.
