David had been anointed king; meaning he was promised the throne, but we see that the throne did not come to him as easy as the oil was poured upon him. David encountered several challenges including series of threat to his life.

One would love to ask ‘Why did God not just wipe away Saul and place David on the throne seeing that He had rejected Saul’? That surely seems like the best line of action in order to salvage the situation, yet we do not see God towing that path. Rather, in the wisdom of God, Saul was a tool for David’s refining and perfection process. Through Saul, David’s humility, patience, fear, and dependency on God were tested. Even when David had the opportunity to kill Saul, he held the counsel of God above his circumstance and feeling. This was a great training process for David!

This further enlists to show us why God calls David a man after His heart. David earned it by continually humbling himself and choosing God’s way and accepting God’s process. At the appointed time, God established David on the throne. Today, do not be overwhelmed or discharge yourself from God’s training process. Your destiny is being molded and God has determined that you will sit on the throne He has appointed for you. Hallaluyah!
